Tasted over 200 samples Bordeaux 2009 all last week
After having tasted all last week over 200 samples Bordeaux 2009 (www.arcum.ch) with some of the highest reputed wines critics, we come to the conclusion that there are definitely some wines as good as 2000 or 20005 and some wines even better. Over all, the 2005 is for sure a bigger vintage, also to take in consideration, that in 2005 the financial status of certain vineries, was healthier than today. So that some smaller vineries, didn't have the sufficient financial funds, in this world crises, to spend for the additional costs.
Tasting & Lunch Chateau Mouton-Rothschild
Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, Jean-Pierre de Beaumarchais
We have tasted all the major Chateaux like; Montrose, Cos d'Estournel, Mouton Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild, Latour, Margaux, Palmer, Pichon-Lalande, Petrus, Le Pin, Cheval Blanc, Ausone, VCC, Pavie, Peby Faugeres and many, many more in the last 7 days . So that we are able to consult our customers in a very professional way.
Tasting Chateau Haut-Brion
Prince Robert de Luxembourg, (Chateau Haut-Brion)
James Suckling, (Wine Spectator)
Roberto R. Chiaradia, (Arcum Wine Trading SA)
Jean-Philippe Delmas (Chateau Haut-Brion)
Some of the wines are just as big as 2005 or 2000 but just with a different character. We think in the end it is going to be a matter of price. You should compare prices and scores between 2005 (look our 2005s selection) and 2000 when the 2009s come out as futures or En Primeur. Remember that we have still very good sources for 2000 and 2005 physically stock, plus will have good allocation of 2009s En Primeur.
Tasting Chateau Le Pin
Jacques Thienpont, (Chateau Le Pin)
Roberto R. Chiaradia, (Arcum Wine Trading SA)
Alexandre Thienpont, (Vieux Chateau Certan)
Of course wines like Latour 2009 or Mouton 2009 are candidates for 100 points and should be purchased. Also Pichon-Lalande 2009 is probably the best the chateau has made since 1982 and Vieux Chateau Certan 2009 the best even since 1950, "as Alexandre Thienpont commented ". But with other wines in 2009 it might be smarter to buy 2005 since you will already have them physically in your cellar.
Tasting Chateau Faugeres by Mario Botta
The 2009 vintage is a big and great vintage, not like 2008, which some critics have overrated. But we already said this in the past.
